UK online shopping with Sainsburys: Can someone answer this for me please?

Posted on December 21st, 2009 by admin

I ordered groceries for the first time today online and i have got a slot for tomorrow for my goods to arrive. I went to the checkout online and placed my order, entering my credit card details.

It has been several hours since i placed this order and the money has yet to be taken from my bank account (I have online banking) and i wanted to enquire.

Do you actually have to pay for the goods when the driver brings them (the cost of the order) or has this order already been paid for online?

Any people who online shop with sainsburys who can assist would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I use Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s online and they all take the money at the checkout when your groceries go through. I also know this for certain because my sister is a shopper for sainsbury’s. They don’t wait until the food is delivered, you are only signing to say it has arrived safely.
If you need to send something back or if something is missing then they give you a refund back onto the card you paid with. It usually takes 2 to 3 days for this money to be refunded which I think is a bit of a cheek really.

If you have food that is too close to it’s use by date then you can phone them later and tell them and they will also refund the cost of that as well as letting you keep the item.

the order is paid automatically online when the order has been delivered.
this is because some items may be out of stock or alternatives put in which are a different price.

Once yr order has been delivered, u will have to sign for it and then after that, possibly the next day – the money is taken from yr acct. Its all legitimate and safe. I shopped with sainsburys on line before i emigrated.

I shop with all of the main online stores and they all charge your card at the time that they check your goods out. You will find the money will be taken tomorrow.

They have to do it that way just in case there are any goods that they don’t have in stock, or if substitute goods are supplied, and to account for any special offers in store on the day. The true cost isn’t determined until they run your shopping through the tills. You only have to sign for it when they deliver.

If you receive anything you don’t want, they will return it to the store and refund the card.

With Sainsbury (and Tesco), you don’t pay until just before the order arrives. Also bear this in mind: if there were substitutions the driver has to tell you about them first and give you time to chose if you want to accept them or not. If not, you can turn them over to the driver who will scan it into his hand-held scanner.

You sign upon delivery and will see the funds deducted shortly thereafter. And if there were items rejected, you will see them reimbursed into your account shortly after the delivery as well.

    Cheers
