The added price you pay for getting advice is well-worth it if you need that advice. The advantage to shopping in a mall is that you can pick up the camera and see what it feels like. I feel no loyalty to a camera department in a big-box store, so I feel no guilt if I look at a camera there and then buy it for 5-15% cheaper on-line.
